Petition for the Respect of All Religions During Graduation Ceremonies

We, the undersigned affirm that graduation messages such as an invocation should not emphasize one religion but rather, be a universal message which creates an umbrella over all faiths, and that in order to deal with this issue, all speeches given at official school wide events should be screened by the faculty. We do not believe that any speaker should be allowed to give a sermon based entirely on his or her own faith. It is the responsibility of the school board and the administration to ensure that the message of each speaker promotes unity within the graduating class by personally pushing each class member to do his or her best in all aspects of life. This Petition was organized by Brandon David and the Facebook group The Movement for the Respect of Minority, Religions, Lifestyles, and Individuals.
